In this project, DSI researchers will create an active RI Community within UZH, by equipping scientists, innovators, tech developers, and policymakers with evidence-based business and governance strategies to support real-world innovation.

Background

Most responsible innovation (RI) initiatives focus narrowly on technical risks and benefits, which is limited in addressing the complexity of societal transformation. What is missing is a broader systemic perspective, whereby the needs and interests of relevant stakeholders are proactively attended to in decision-making processes.

This project is designed as a bridging effort to respond directly to this challenge. It aims to complement ongoing innovation activities at UZH, ensure broad engagement of non-academic stakeholders in science, and contribute to wider uptakes of ethically informed innovation strategies in the long run.

The project is seed-funded by the UZH Innovation Office through its DRIVE Program, with the goal of establishing powerful cross-disciplinary communities and networks of researchers, inventors and entrepreneurs.
