The talk will summarize Dr Smith’s recent book – on Why Machines Will Never Rule the World – co-authored with Jobst Landgrebe, a leading German expert in the AI field. He will address the following questions:

Could there be an ethically responsible AI?
What are the limits of AI?
Barry Smith will conclude with a discussion of ChatGPT and of the reasons why it is not intelligent.
